Art for Rent

A little inspiration for all the starving artists out there:

Illustrious illustrator Philip Burke, when he was a young and struggling artist in Buffalo, once traded this portrait of Henry Kissinger (on exhibit starting Friday in "About Face" on the Daemen College campus) for a month of rent at his apartment. This is according to curator Gerald Mead, whose collection fueled the exhibition.

Burke

Now, of course, Burke is internationally famous for his caricatures of musicians and artists, many of which have appeared in Esquire, Rolling Stone, and this newspaper.
