That's so 'A Chorus Line'
In my story today previewing the national tour of "A Chorus Line," which opens tonight in Shea's Performing Arts Center, I talked a bit with Bethany Moore, a cast member of the tour and 2007 graduate of the University at Buffalo.
During her time in Buffalo, Moore and her friends would often pose in front of the enormous poster of Michael Bennett (the original director and choreographer of "A Chorus Line") across from Shea's as a sort of jokey flirtation with the career they were about to embark on. Only a couple of years later, two of them would be cast in a national tour the very show Bennett helped to create -- a show about chorus boys and girls auditioning their hearts out and trying to make it in the highly competitive world of musical theater. That the tour now brings them back to Bennett's hometown. The phrase "full circle" doesn't quite capture it.
It's just a bit of college goofiness, but, given the success of Moore and fellow UB Boston Conservatory grad Jordan Fife Hunt (also pictured), it seemed a shame not to share:
