Gandy money
The lack of experienced, competent offensive linemen around the NFL was evidenced last week with the signing of Bills free agent Mike Gandy by the Arizona Cardinals. Gandy got a $2.4 million signing bonus from the Cards and will be paid $3 million total this year. That's not huge by today's standard but it's a lot more than the veteran minimum.
The Cards have no one to play left tackle since big near-bust Leonard Davis signed in Dallas for a king's ransom. They also need a left guard. So Gandy will start at one of those two spots. If the Cards decide to keep Gandy in 2008, they will have to pay him $6 million for that season, according to the Arizona Republic.
Cards QB Matt Leinart better be working on his speed this offseason. He could be scrambling a lot behind the Cards' perennially porous protection.
