Rapping with Troy Vincent

I had a talk recently with former Bills safety Troy Vincent. He is one of the classier men to play in Buffalo, and that has not changed.

He is not with a team after being released by Washington, but he's been in contact with a few teams. He believes he can still help a team, though he has accepted the reality that he's no longer a starting caliber player. If he did sign with a team it would be as a role player and mentor to younger teammates. He is keeping his options open as far as playing next season, but has not ruled out retirement.

As president of the NFL player's union, he has plenty to keep himself busy. Vincent told me he had mixed emotions about NFL Roger Goodell suspending Tennessee cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones for the season and Cincinnati wide receiver Chris Henry for eight games. Vincent feels for the players, but on the other hand, he stood by the ruling because he agreed something had to be done to curb bad off-field behavior.

Believe it or not, Jones and Henry are actually lucky. According to Vincent, there was talk of suspending the players for life.

Vincent said he and the union leadership continue to support Jones and Henry, and hope the suspensions will make them and other players clean up their act.
