Roger that!
Only a few months into his new job, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell let everyone know who is boss. His decision to suspend Tennessee cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones for the 2007 season and Cincinnati cornerback Chris Henry for eight games is an unprecedented move. And warranted.
I have always advocated a zero-tolerance policy for players who run afoul of the law. It's nice to know that Goodell feels as I do that playing in the NFL is a privilege and not a right. Any player who puts himself in bad situations deserves the consequences that follow.
The interesting part in all this is Jones has never been convicted of anything. But Goodell doesn't care about that. He has sent a message that he's the judge, jury and executioner. Good for him.

So when does the union descend on Goodell's office with pitchforks and torches?

I think Henry got off easy. I mean he was actually arrested for an offense, and Pac Man was only questioned. In my opinion the suspensions should have been switched, with an option for Pac Man suspension to be worsened if he was arrested for any offenses.
