Take the day off with pay
Sorry, but I've never understood the practice of giving players Monday off just because they won a game on Sunday. Bills coach Dick Jauron gave his troops an extra day to relax before they begin preparations Wednesday for Sunday's matchup with the Jets.
Why?
The Bills are 2-4 this season, not 6-0. You would think they had enough R&R last week during the bye. It would be one thing if they were the New England Patriots, but the Bills are a young team still trying to find their way. At this point in the season, they need all the work they can get.
Marv Levy didn't always give his players Monday off after a victory in the early 1990s, when the Bills were in their heyday. He often took the day to go over details that were overlooked amid all that winning. They might have been hung over from Jim Kelly's house parties, but at least they were there.
If anything, Jauron should have had his players watch video to remind them of what they did right in the 19-14 win over the Ravens. These guys are getting paid big money in a multibillion-dollar business. They have enough time to relax after the season. Are six-day weeks over the course of a season too much to ask?
