Week Eight games

The unpredictability of NFL results in relation to the point spreads is humorous every week. It's humorous because I don't bet money on games. I'm confident if you got a panel of Mike Holmgren, Bill Belichick and Jeff Fisher to pick games for you each week vs. the spread, you still would not win more than 52 percent of your games. That being said, here are this week's thoughts on NFL picks:

Miami is missing Zach Thomas and Ronnie Brown. The Giants are on a roll. It's being played in London, which means even with the excitement of London fans, the game is going to have an odd feel for the players. I can't see Miami sustaining a game effort. I like the Giants to roll.

New England keeps covering huge spreads every week. This reminds me of the 1991 Redskins. They killed everybody that year, and covered giant spreads each week. It's another big spread vs. Washington. I don't see the Redskins offense doing anything vs. the Patriots defense. Usually, if a spread is double-digits, I think the underdog covers 60 percent of the time. But it's crazy to doubt the Pats right now.

St. Louis is my dumb pick of the week. The Rams are awful. Cleveland's offense is rolling up big numbers against poor competition. You'd think Cleveland would win this game. But I'm not yet ready to believe the Browns can be consistent week to week.
