A-Train derailed

The Bills may have lost running back Anthony Thomas for the season with a torn calf muscle. Coach Dick Jauron wouldn't confirm that, but injuries of this nature usually takes weeks to heal. Don't expect A-Train back any time soon, if at all.

Thomas' injury leaves the Bills dangerously thin at running back. Marshawn Lynch is probably out another week, so the team will go into Sunday's game at Washington with Fred Jackson and Dwayne Wright. Whether those guys can generate a running game against the Redskins' stout run defense remains to be seen, but the Bills need to run some to take pressure off rookie quarterback Trent Edwards.

Although the Bills have got along with just two backs most of last season (Thomas and Willis McGahee), they have to hope Lynch can return for the Dolphins game next week at The Ralph. If Lynch is out any longer, the Bills might be forced to make another in what has been a long list of roster moves.

Can Jackson and Wright carry the load? Give us your take.
