Light year for changes
So far it looks like the NFL coaching carousel will spin slowly this year. There usually are about six coaching changes a year in the NFL. Some years there have been as many as nine or 10 changes. This season there have been only three -- in Atlanta, Baltimore and Miami. The Falcons are interviewing one of Bill Polian's sons, Chris Polian, for their open general manager post. Chris Polian is Indy's vice president of football operations. The Falcons also are interviewing Colts assistant head coach Jim Caldwell for the head-coaching job. The Bills interviewed Caldwell two years ago. I would not be surprised if Caldwell got that job, and it might make sense to have a package deal with Polian. The Ravens have a good candidate in house in defensive coordinator Rex Ryan. Given Bill Parcells' penchant for picking former associates, Dallas assistant head coach and offensive line coach Tony Sparano has to be the front-runner for the Dolphins.
