OTA notes

It looked like defensive tackle Marcus Stroud was moving well in Monday's opening practice.

Of course, his surgically repaired right ankle is going to be a focus of attention all summer. He underwent major surgery on it in January 2007.

Stroud showed good penetration through the line a couple of times and generally ran well. He's a very big-framed man, not flabby at all. At times it did look like he wasn't going full tilt on the ankle, and he said after practice it is almost 100 percent recovered, but not quite. He was very optimistic about his health and his new team after the workout.

Kyle Williams still was running with the first team on the defensive line. John McCargo was working with the second team. The second-team cornerbacks were Will James and Leodis McKelvin.

Also working with the second-team defense were linemen Ryan Denney, Spencer Johnson and Copeland Bryan, linebackers Keith Ellison, John DiGiorgio and rookie Alvin Bowen, and safety George Wilson and Bryan Scott.

Really...nice defensive depth. The 2nd team squad looks about as solid as our starting squad last year. I guess because half of them were starters.
