OTA Day 11
RB Marshawn Lynch's absence Friday opened up more reps for guys like Dwayne Wright, who made the most of his extra opportunities. He got most of the snaps with the first-team offense and did a nice job hitting holes with a burst of speed. ... Rookie CB Leodis McKelvin had a good day. He picked off a Trent Edwards pass and returned it for a touchdown during a 11-on-11 session and made a good read on a route by WR Roscoe Parrish to break up a pass during a 7-on-7 drill. ...Rookie WRs James Hardy and Steve Johnson made several nice catches. Three straight receptions in one stretch by Hardy earned the praise of receivers coach Tyke Tolbert. Johnson seems to make a play each day, which go a long way towards him making the team, assuming he keeps it up in training camp. ... WR Josh Reed was a spectator because of a sore knee, which isn't serious. Also not practicing were TEs Robert Royal and Tim Massaquoi, DT Spencer Johnson and FB Mike Viti. ... Besides Lynch, missing Friday's practice were: WR Lee Evans, T Jason Peters, C Melvin Fowler, DE Aaron Schobel and CB Jabari Greer. Peters has been absent since the OTAs began, possibly due to a contract dispute. Coach Dick Jauron expects Peters to attend next week's mandatory three-day minicamp, which begins next Wednesday.
