Kyle Williams numbers
The base salaries for the contract extension signed by Kyle Williams are as follows: $700,000 this year, $1.245 million in 2009, $1.75 million in 2010, $1.75 million in 2011, and $1.805 million in 2012. He got a $1.75 million roster bonus this year and a $1.5 million guaranteed roster bonus next March. It's a nice deal for Williams. He gets a deal that's extended by three years beyond his rookie contract, which was to run through 2009. But the terms are not so great that they preclude competition from third-year man John McCargo. If Williams plays well as the starter, he'll be a decent bargain. If he plays well as a rotation player with McCargo and Marcus Stroud, his deal still will not be exorbitant by any means. All that being said, the signing is another prod to McCargo to step up this year, compete with Williams and take the starting job by the lapels. Through spring practice, Williams still was the clear starter at nose tackle. This will be an interesting thing to watch in training camp.

So the Bills finished 30th on defense and 25th against the run and they "reward" Williams with a raise? Exactly what has this guy done to warrant more money? Meanwhile, the Bills' best player, Jason Peters, can't get a new deal after earning All-Pro honors. No wonder this team sucks.
