Jags' lone holdout

Jacksonville's No. 1 draft pick, defensive end Derrick Harvey, remains the only first-round pick in the NFL who remains a holdout. The Jaguars traded up from 26th to eighth overall to get Harvey and are hoping he can shore up the one less-than-stellar aspect of their dominant defense. That would be the pass rush. The Bills play at Jacksonville in Week Two. So the Bills would love to see this holdout last another week or two, further diminishing the prospect of Harvey making an impact early in the season. The market for the eighth overall pick has been set, but Jacksonville is a small-market team and appears unwilling to follow in line with the cost of the picks immediately in front of Harvey. Another good thing about Buffalo playing Jacksonville early is new defensive coordinator Gregg Williams may be a bit less likely to have his players fully adjusted to his complex, 16-package defense at the start of the season. The Bills were within 19-14 after three quarters in Jacksonville last year before the Jags' running game pounded the Bills' defense into submission in the fourth en route to a 36-14 win.
