97 on the field

The temperature here is supposed to hit 93 today, which would make it the hottest game in Jaugars history but only the fourth hottest Bills game ever. (It was 100 at Dallas in 1982.) On the field, a Bills official told me a thermometer read 97 degrees at 11 a.m. WBEN's Paul Peck said the thermometer sitting in the sun on the deck of the radio booth read 105. For some reason, the Jaguars opted to wear their dark home jerseys. So the Bills are wearing their whites. If I were Jack Del Rio, I would have worn the whites. Anyway, so much for the overanalysis of incidental factors, such as jersey colors.

Here are the inactives for the Bills: Stevie Johnson, Xavier Omon, Reggie Corner, Jason Whittle, Demetrius Bell, Derek Fine and Chris Ellis. So Whittle is down and John McCargo is up this week. The Bills' D-line will need to stay as fresh as possible in the heat. For the Jags, receiver Jerry Porter is inactive. He's listed as the third quarterback. If both Jacksonville QBs went down, they would put ex-Arkansas QB Matt Jones, now a starting receiver, would play QB, then Porter, theoretically, could enter the game. The Jags also are without receiver Troy Williamson, who was No. 3 last week. Jason Peters will start.

The Jaguars will not start ex-Bill Tutan Reyes opposite Marcus Stroud. They're starting seventh-year man Milford Brown, who they just signed on Tuesday. Brown was released by Carolina in August. He started 15 games for St. Louis last season. He has 43 career starts.
