No Schobel or Reed

Defensive end Aaron Schobel and receiver Josh Reed were not practicing today as the Buffalo Bills began preparations for the game against the New York Jets Sunday. Running back Marshawn Lynch was not in attendance during the first 20 minute portion that the media gets to watch. We'll see what coach Dick Jauron has to say about him at 2:30 p.m.

Cornerback Terrence McGee, coming back from a knee injury, was working fully. But cornerback Ashton Youboty (foot) looked like he was somewhat limited. On the offensive line, Duke Preston was working with the starting unit at center again, even though Melvin Fowler was practicing. Fowler missed much of practice last week due to a sore elbow. Guard Brad Butler was watching practice with a brace on his left knee. He's sure to be out this week.

Reed strained an Achilles tendon against Miami, the team reported. He was watching the start of practice but was favoring his right leg. Schobel, who has missed the past two games due to an injured foot, did not have the protective boot on the foot. He was doing some limited pass rush moves under the supervision of a trainer. But he did not participate with the rest of the defensive linemen in any drills. So he looks like a long-shot again this week.

It looks like last year all over with all the injuries. Tough to overcome when so many key people are out.

I am the first one to say that missing Schobel is no loss at all as I believe he and Dockery are the 2 most overpaid Bills based on performance. However, there are 2 games a year when Schobel seems to get half his sacks and those are the Jets games!
