Bills-Browns: Pick your players of the game

Comments

The moment the Bills WIN the Super Bowl, I'll release Wilson of his debt to Bills fans. Until then, "Ralph owes us" remains the maxim.

Lloyd is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.

BOYCOT the remaining games. Screw the Bills the way they've screwed the fans.

"did Ralph owe us anything?"

He's ALWAYS owed us, and still does.

I think I would rather do my taxes then try to post on this blog-90% of my remarks go to cyberspace

Lloyd, get a grip. Do you think your sorry posts are goin to rally the city? #2, Jauron isn't going to be fired after signing a 3 year extension. When we were 5-1, did Ralph owe us anything? I'm sure you probably knew we would be 5-5 a month later because you know so much. Start betting against the Bills if we are so sorry of a franchise -- you could make enough to buy the team and hire a REAL coach.

Fans: Time to refrain from going to the games, seeing the games, hearing the games, or buying the merchandise. If you already bought tickets, get a refund. There's much better to spend one's time, energy, and money on than continually supporting garbage. Ralph needs this message now: "Not giving us a winner, Ralph? We're out. Look at empty seasts the rest of the season."

"If you guys want to blame Ralph then you should be ready to pay more for tickets."

I wouldn't mind paying some more for a Bills game if they were serious about putting a winning product in the Buffalo uniforms.

The way I see it: Ralph owes the fans BIG, and he owes them NOW. All this stupidity of Ralph's has reached its zenith.

When the season ends, Ralph Wilson's first task is to fire Dick Jauron and the coaching staff, but keep Bobby April. Then, get a REAL coach, and therefore a better support staff, and therefore a better set of players who can get things accomplished.

Doing things on the cheap won't cut it anymore.

Then again, instead of charging more, he should give more... spend of his own personal money, as a favor to the fans, and make the team a winner... all on his own tab. He won't be around forever, so why not generously spend his remaioning millions and billions on making the Bills a winner. Ralph's final gift to the fans.

We are due.

We are owed.

It is time.

I sure like that denial-anger-bargaining-depression-acceptance post-it sums up the last 10 years

Is anyone having the same trouble with those encrypted letters I am? I can,t tell a y from a V- thats why the double posts

Anyone else endure Dennis Williams nauseating apologist view of the Bills on the radio this morning? He tried to hold Edwards accountable for last nights debacle at the same time repeatedly stating he was sorry for having to do so. Himself like the rest of the media in Buffalo can't face the fact that Edwards is a backup at best, I said it a year ago if Losman (who you screwed out of his job) is not the answer you don't have an answer on the roster. Go pick up Chris Simms in the off season.

Diff. is we can get Cassel-we cant get BB. Mybe he can bring some know how with him

Jerry - There is a comparison between BB and Mauron it is just not a good one! BB is one of the best coaches in the league (I hate writing that) and Mauron should be a college defensive coordinator or high school coach.....

Matt Cassel has 6 pro bowlers in the offense besides Ben Watson as TE and one of the best coaches on the league. He would be the next JP in Buffalo with this team and coaches.
Did you remember the game of NE vs San Diego, Matt was awful! He has been improving due to BB.
There is not comparison between BB and Dick Jauron.

I am very disappointed that the season is lost, but it is not about changing the QB right now. This year is lost. Let Trent play it out and give him freedom to make plays. He has not played well, but he showed he could play well the first 5-6 weeks. There is nothing to lose now by getting him more experience.

Most QB's would suck under Mauron's awful "play not to lose" style. Plus, this team has a dearth of talent on the OL, WR and TE not to mention no DE's.

To Pete on the loss of Bill Polian(and it was a huge loss)The story at the time was he didnt get along with the treasurer,Jeff Littmann. I dont know what Littmann has done since but we all know what Bill has

Jauron has lost his QB and is on the verge of losing his team. Playing not to lose is a proven road to defeat in the NFL.

I am really disappointed. I am from Buffalo originally, but live in Cleveland. I love the Bills, but they are what they are. Not good. They haven't been in a long time, and aren't now. The coaching was comical. I mean, to have to call a time out after (obviously suprisingly) getting to the one yard line on a play because they didn't know what play to call while the defense was on it's heels, was, well, horrendous. NO excuse at this "level" of play. Edwards was so shell shocked from the first quarter on, it was sad. Did he even look down field after the third interception? I actually felt sorry for him, but not nearly as sorry as I felt for all those deserving Bills fans out there. So long Bills. Your coaching staff is actually worse than the Brown coaching staff, and trust me, that's saying a lot. The press here in Cleveland is relentless with Crenell, and the Bill's guys are much, MUCH worse. They get a free pass with the News.

I like that Matt Cassel idea. This team cannot make good drafts and free agents are the only way to turn this go nowhere outfit around I hoped I would see a S.B. win before I died but I dont think I can make it to 150

Matt Cassell is not better than TE. He is better coached, has better WRs, TEs, and O-Linemen. I guarantee BB could make TE look effective too.

Matt Cassel is a free agent next year. The Bills need to consider picking him up and letting JP go and making Edwards the backup

Bills are officially done. Let's play for a high draft pick now.

that's it - Jauron's gotta go. I can't take looking at his expressionless face on the sidelines any longer, and his conservative playcalling is driving me crazy. The three straight running plays on the Bills' final series was the last straw. He's completely gutless and inept. I can't watch another game. I feel like a total sap clinging to hopes that this team will ever do anything but disappoint. I'm done.

If you guys want to blame Ralph then you should be ready to pay more for tickets. I know we have not paid for the best coaches or players but our ticket prices and food prices are cheap because Ralph knows that people in buffalo do not have the money to support the team like we are supposed to.

I agree with Mark. The problem is, and always has been, Ralph. He has clearly been one of the most incompetent, bumbling owners in the history of sports. A history lesson for those not old enough to remember:
. Ralph gets rid of Lou Saban in the 1960's after back to back AFL championships. Lou technically quits because he is tired of Ralph's meddling.
. Ralph trades Daryl Lamonica to the Raiders for a couple of has-beens. Lamonica takes the Raiders to a Super Bowl.
. In the 1970's the Bills have one of the best offenses in football, led by OJ Simpson. Ralph vetoes trades to get Ted Hendricks and/or Mike Curtis to bolster the defense. Saban quits again.
. Chuck Knox takes the Bills back to the playoffs, but quits because of Ralph's frugal ways (won't pay Joe Cribbs, etc.)
. Ralph gets lucky when Polian falls into his lap. Polian kicks Ralph's daughter out of his office when she is interfering. Ralph wants to fire Polian, despite 2 straight Super Bowl appearances. Mary Levy intervenes on Polian's behalf. Polian helps the Bills to a 3rd AFC championship. Wilson then fires Polian.
. Wilson feuds with John Butler and AJ SMith, both great football men. Smith has built the Chargers into a perennial contender.
Bottom line: The Bills won't be a viable contender until Ralph is gone. We can only hope Jim Kelly's group lands the Bills, as opposed to that other miser in T.O., Rogers.
Go UB Bulls!

It looks like we have more than one JP Losman.....

It looks like we have more than one JP Losman.....

Lovely playcalling on those last three plays Dick! In Buffalo in November and you think a 47 yard FG is a chipshot. Your a Moron. Go home please

Parity - the great byword of the NFL.

But you Bills fans need to understand that Parity means the top teams cycle around at the top or near top and the bottom feeders cycle around for who gets the top draft picks.

I don't need to tell you which group the Bills are in.

And you will fit in real well if the team moves up to Toronto some day because the teams are all losers there too.

The NEWS website has this quote on Bills page:

"Some say there are two seasons in Buffalo, football season and waiting for football season. Bills beat writers Mark Gaughan and Allen Wilson, along with sports columnist Bob DiCesare and reporters Rodney McKissic and Milt Northrop, offer background and perspective inside the Bills and the NFL."

Hey – I think you forgot a few seasons in the middle there.

Denial
Anger
Bargaining
Depression
Acceptance

LOL

Wide right – gotta love it.

Yes - Lindell should have made the kick. BUT, starting that last drive, Edwards zips a strike to Royal across the middle. Why not try to throw a few more and make the kick more of a "gimme" or score a TD? Coaches too often coach straight from the book, saying "OK we just need to sit it down and not lose the ball so we can make the kick from here" rather than looking at the drive and seeing what your team is doing at the moment. I think had they let Edwards keep drilling down the field, you would have gotten inside the 20 and got the W.

Edwards sucks. I don't remember the Bills letting J.P. work through any mistakes so why should Edwards be allowed to. Neither will be a good QB with this coaching staff though.

Trent, has very little ability to lead a team.he is a JOKE,get rid of him.Trade him for a bag of chips(cow pies )If he gets injured,Buffalo COULD WIN THIS THING OR MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.If we dont make the playoffs I hope RALPH W. sells the team

I am tired of this year in and year out. For 35 years I have waited and watched, lived through the great superbowl teams, and yet here we are again, given hope only to have it yanked out from under our feet again...I am just tired of this team...

I think the player of the game was Trent Edwards. He showd great leadership, with his ability to stay in the game after stinking up the joint.

Speaking of AVP have you seen him on the sidelines? He better stay away from the Big Tree's wings. And to think they used to call him the "Pillsbury Dough Boy" when he was still playing. What do they call him now?

Player of the game Phil Dawson. He is my nephew.

Jim B.
Queens, NY

These calls for JP are insane. He is completely inept. Let Edwards work through it, or put Hamdan in, or bring AVP down from the booth, or ask Jimbo to take a series or two while he is on the sidelines, but seriously stop panicing when our very young QB with talent struggles early.

Dont call for the cliffboard jockey 'Just Punt', call for better playcalling that can help Edwards get his confidence back. Despite his early struggles, we stayed within a score for most of the game and he made the big completion to get us in range. Then the coaches call 3 rushes which were guaranteed to gain nothing. Every Bills fan in the world knows that you dont trust 47 yard kicks with the game on the line, they always go wide right.

This will continue happening to us fans, until the team is sold to a new owner and the Bills stop looking for the cheapest coaching staff available.

After 1st qtr it looked like maybe JP shoulda been put in. But my beef is the commentators - are there any in the NFL that DON'T hate the Bills? They left bad karma on the field before Lindell's field goal attempt - referencing "wide right" and going on and on about kicks gone bad. He didn't have a chance after all the "help" from the ESPN men. Thanks.

The defense played well. Play calling at the end was atrocious, should have made an attempt to get a closer field goal. Edwards lost his confidence, then the coaches lost confidence in him, and now the fans. He should have been replaced in the second half, Losman couldn't have been any worse.

J.P.!!
It's time to bring back the QB that can put the ball in the big play receiver's hands. Why are we giving all this leeway to Edwards?

Pleeeeeeeze help me out here. Can we make some changes at QB or coaching? I understand Edwards is the QB of the future and apparently after the extension given to Dick Jauron, he is the coach of the future as well. So what about the PRESENT??? How many games, seasons are we going to throw away with gutless play calling? We hammered the O-line for not blocking worth a darn, then they come through with a great performance and we waste it on a scared, inept QB. The box score will show that Rian Lindell missed a makeable 47 yd feild goal at the end, but is that a realistic indicator of what really happened? Trent Edwards melted down yet again in the first quarter and the rest of the game the play calling was to run the ball, throw short and hide his lack of confidence. It almost worked. Almost. At the very end, after great field position due to the return team's A-1 performance tonight, the Bills only needed 30 or so yards to get into field goal range with 93 seconds on the clock. But Dick" you think Rush Limbaugh is Conservative?" Jauron managed to outsmart himself yet again! Instead of going for the end zone or some short slant routes, he took Romeo Crennel's bait and ran the ball three straight downs and made the game winning kick a 47 yarder instead of a potentially far more makeable kick. It's OK though, we can hang this on Rian Lindell. Kickers are thick skinned, and replaceable. It'll be easier to heap the blame on him than to put it on gutless play calling or a young quarterback floundering and a coach too stubborn to give him the hook after one incredibly bad quarter. Hey, there's always next yr. Nice seeing Jim Kelly on the sidleine. Wish he would have put a helmet on....we could use a guy like that nowadays.
Another year down the drain.
PS> DO we still have Lee Evans? If so, I think Cleveland's entire secondary should punch their tickets to the pro ball next February. I'm sure it was just excellent coverage that he had ZERO TOUCHES tonight.

Marcus Stroud was player of the game
