Lehman needed
The signing of linebacker Teddy Lehman should prompt a sigh of relief for Bills fans. The Bills were living on the edge from a depth standpoint the past two weeks after John DiGiorgio went out for the season with a knee injury. The Bills have only inexperienced Blake Costanzo, Jon Corto and Marcus Buggs behind starters Kawika Mitchell, Paul Posluszny and Keith Ellison. Now Lehman gives them a veteran who can backup both inside and outside. Lehman looked like he was going to be an NFL star after his rookie season, in which he started all 16 games for the Lions. But injuries have derailed him. He played only nine games combined in 2005 and 2006 due to foot and ankle injuries. He appeared in 16 games, mostly on special teams, for Detroit in 2007. So presumably he's healthy enough to fill in.
The move marks the end of Ashton Youboty's season, due to the painful arch injury that has kept him out of the lineup the past three games. Now the Bills are going to have to lean on rookies Leodis McKelvin and Reggie Corner in their sub-packages on passing downs. But that's what just about every team has to do at some point in the season.
