Hey everyone... how do I search for more than one word in other posts, so that it returns only posts with those two words?

Just to take one small piece of comparison:
Joey Porter's outspokenness is good for national footnotes on a minor team, or a week's worth of headlines on a Superbowl team. But he won't have CNN parking a van on his front lawn after the game is over; and that's the kind of machine that revolves around T.O. right now.
T.O. is a better player; but he's a better story, too. Victim or villain? You decide.

The starting point for getting to know Owens for me is without bias one way or another. As long as he wasn't involved with the Bills, I never paid the slightest attention to the hype and hoopla surrounding him, because I never considered him a very interesting person. But now he's on board, so I'm taking a close look at him and the situations he's gone through.
I haven't made any conclusions yet. But here's some of my thinking process:
1) Compare him to players with similar stats who are generally well-respected, like Isaac Bruce, Marvin Harrison, Jerry Rice. How is Owens viewed differently from them, and why? Put Randy Moss in the group, and consider again.
2) Compare Owens to other players that have engaged massive media attention for periods of time. Did they court it, or did it come to them? Some craved it and were ignored; others were pursued unwillingly. I look at Ocho Cinco, Joey Porter, Michael Vick, O.J. Simpson, Brett Favre, Jay Cutler. What did they do that got attention?
One thing clear is that the starting point for Owens' media buzz is that, as Andy Reid said last week, T.O. is a "Hall of Fame caliber player."
I wonder: is his off-the-field notoriety more or less because of what he does, or because what he does challenges other people around him?
He's not demonized for dogfighting, after all; he's dissed for demoralizing.
I see articles that are slanted right by the title, so you know that the editor is saying he's selfish, he whines and he thinks the world revolves around him. That's the story people want to hear. It's what sells. And when there are facts that don't jibe with this viewpoint, they're often played down or left out entirely. So who is the real T.O.?
T.O. is used as media fodder to sell newspapers and bring is advertising dollars. Is he just helpless and unaware of how people react? Is he a calculating accomplice in the deal, because he likes being a subject that everyone's talking about? Is the truth somewhere in between?
More questions than answers here, so far. But I won't be swept into condemning him when the facts don't back it up.

Here's a rebuke to the Buffalo Bills mantra of old, on "Character."
F--- CHARACTER! GET THE F---ING JOB DONE!

TO is awesome force of nature!!!
2 TD's first game foxboro!!!

Enjoy! You'll be high-fivin' after a TO touchdown... all smiles... then he'll use the football as a prop to celebrate and you'll get a 15 yard penalty. Pretty selfish, but okay, maybe you still win!
Next game he gets two catches for 19 yards and the BB's lose... he'll say all the right things after the game. But then it will happen again. maybe three catches for 28 yards and the BB's lose again... you won't know it, but he'll be bitching in the locker room... building his coalition with young players... sewing seeds of discontent. And so it will begin... again.
But maybe this time "Typhoid Mary" won't spread disease. Maybe it is different this time around. Maybe he cannot do as much damage in a single year. Maybe.
Just remember the Cowboys returned from 2007 with 13 Pro Bowlers in 2008 and went 9&7. TO was a HUGE part of that disaster. Again, enjoy! and good riddance.

I know the contract's only for a year, but that's more than enough time for t.o. to ruin the pysch of the team and marshawn to ruin ruin his neighborhood. Only time will tell. There's a lot of negative that can happen in a year or less. Just look at last year. And you're telling us that owens is the missing link to the playoffs and beyond?

Buffalo is the only city in the NFL that will treat Owens like a rock star Forget his past,we are desperate!! What Losers we are and we will continue to be the laughting stock of the league. Cant wait till they move!

They can address an offensive lineman to take Derrick Dockery's place via a trade at draft time... trade a draft pick or two to KC and get a lineman who is looking for a new team.
And maybe do a few picks to KC and bring Tony Gonzalez.
Then, while JP Losman is looking for work, sign Michael Vick. There, you have a backup QB who has been to the playoffs and won a few times.
I may be rooting for another team this season, but here is a golden opportunity for Buffalo to be daring and show the world that they are part of the NFL playoff hunt.
If it hasn't begun, let the pimping of the Bills begin.
If it's already in place, let there be CONTINUITY of said pimping!
PIMP UP, BUFFALO!

Through thick and thin I have always been a proud Bills fan. With the Owens' signing, for the first time in 45 years I am simply ashamed of this team.

I live in Dallas and I'm a Cowboys season ticket holder. Over the past three years I've seen two different camps when it comes to TO. One camp thinks that he is very disruptive to team chemistry and is a very selfish player. The second camp sees TO as a great locker room guy who speaks the truth who is a very hard worker and is a great receiver. I know you have heard the old saying "Where there is smoke there is fire". When TO first came to Dallas, the media (both local and national), started looking for this smoke. When they saw none, they started creating their own smoke with their pens. TO is not a saint but is not the bad person that the media betrays him to be neither. Don't judge what I've written in this BLOG. I'm just attempting to give a little insight. As a fan please look very closely at what is being reported about this guy. Watch him for yourself and the only smoke you will probably see from him is the smoke coming from his feet as he is running through opponents secondary in route for a touchdown.

For those who decided that they won't buy tickets now because we signed TO .... Well thanks for being so stupid. Besides those tickets will be long gone before the season starts. Thats exactly what Ralph was after when he signed TO. Terrell Owens is definitely not a typical Bills player of the past but times have changed and I'm willing to take that chance on Owens and making the playoffs for the first time in a decade. Buffalo deserves it and so do the fans that have constantly sold out that stadium game after game. Anyone who thinks that signing Owens to a 1 year deal was a horrible move has no sport-sense or common sense at all. He's the best out there, he's a fierce competitor, he puts up numbers at the gate and on the field and he will open up our offense unbelievably. Lee Evans deserves this and our running backs won't have to run their asses of for 3 hardcore yards. The holes will open and so will the passing lanes !!! This is a fact and we will see a playoff game in 2010 thanks to this signing !!
Posted by: Patrick Smith | March 08, 2009 at 06:19 PM
I was planning on purchasing a pair of season tickets but with the signing of Terrell Owens I will not step foot inside the stadium.Management has insulted the intelligence of some very sophisticated football fans with this signing.Owens represents everything contrary to what the citizens of the Buffalo area demand. His comment about playing for North Americas was his first insult as no Bills fan living in western New York was ever thrilled with the team playing in Toronto. Let the travesty begin!

Good to see the Canadian ownership of the Bills pull the trigger on a marquee player to get some return on their investment.
Posted by: joe blow | March 08, 2009 at 04:31 PM
Sorry Margie, but the Bills do not have good WR's after Evans, can't believe you said that. They had no true number 2 wideout, Josh Reed will be the perfect number 3 in the slot. Anyone know what number TO will be wearing? Hardy currently has TO's number 81. Just curious!
Posted by: Rick | March 08, 2009 at 02:57 PM
The Bills need an offensive line, not another WR. We have good WR;s
Posted by: Margie | March 08, 2009 at 02:36 PM
says jsins on TO's outspoken nature - "They need someone to call them out when they suck.. not jauron or edwards saying the politically correct corporate bull!"
-interesting point, I like it. This team will have to answer to their (potential) mediocrity now that they are in the spotlight. Its about time!
Posted by: Brian | March 08, 2009 at 11:18 AM
For those saying TO will drag the team down, to where exactly? They've stunk for years. They desperately need somebody with passion and fire. This guy produced more last year than all of the current receivers combined. He instantly puts the team into contention.
Posted by: esquire535 | March 08, 2009 at 10:31 AM
TO already makes this team a contender.
we have superior special teams.
we had no problem getting drives inside the 20.
we struggled to score when we got inside the 20.
we have great running backs and a weak receiving core.
now we have three excellent receivers matched to their strengths.
reed will have a fantastic yr, as will evans, lynch and jackson.
i would be shocked if the offense is not explosive.
this guy is a total game changer...
no more 8 man lines against the Bills...
that era is over...
wake up Buffalo, football players, and most athletes, are not nice guys. they are all selfish.
as for the K man's comment about receiver not being a priority, maybe he meant to say his replacement should have been a higher priority...
yes, he should be very happy, since TO will allow an average defense line to improve because the Bills will force teams to pass alot more, and make it a no brainer to blitz the hell out of them....
beating new england may not be easy, but everyone else is fair game now.
go bills....
ps...perhaps we should credit thurman thomas' trash talk the other night about the lack of talent in buffalo and how they "stink" as motivating ralph to take the plunge on a superstar...

This is truly a historic day in Buffalo Sports. The Bills so need a "dynamic positive" thinking athlete. T.O. is so misunderstood. Do people know that he writes awesome childrens books? Imagine that??? Maybe T.O. is just a creative and dynamic individual who says what is on his mind. He just happens to be open and honest and say what he trully feels. The way I see it, when he is quoted by the media ... his statements get taken out of context. Many athletes when interviewed know all the right buzzwords to keep them out of trouble with the media. I rather hear from the athlete who trully says what is on his mind. T.O. will inspire the players on the field and in the locker room. He is the type of man a true man desires as a friend.
Posted by: Andrew Hvisdak | March 08, 2009 at 09:13 AM
The To signing is a good move. What I am tired of seeing is Chris Kelsay's opinion on ANY matter concerning this team (see today's article on the players' reactions to the TO signing). Kelsay is irrelevant. He should keep quiet and try to do the job that he was (over)paid to do....I am still waiting for that to happen.

I live in the DFW area. I hate the Cowboys. I like the Bills, and have since before the Super Bowls started. We are the only family that flies the Bills flag every sunday during the season. Dont ever doubt my fandom. I agree with everyone that says this will bring attention to Buffalo and see the point that there may be a good first season there, and that TO is a good player (at least, he was). But just to be clear, I do NOT agree with the signing because the destructive nature of this guy to a team is beyond compare. All of us in Dallas can see it. I hope Edwards and the rest of the guys can band together, get going, and score some touchdowns and win some games this year. If TO wants to start whining and kvetching all year, then let him serve as an attention getter and play the game with Marshawn and Evans. Let TO be the distraction that he can be so well, to other teams! My only question is WHY did they give him #1 jersey> has ANYONE on the BIlls ever had that honor? He does not deserve that, I think we can all agree. Anyway, I will continue to root for the BIlls and we'll just see what happens. It could be worse, right? You guys in Buffalo--dont hesitate to call TO out at EVERY opportunity.
Posted by: JB Sodoma | March 08, 2009 at 08:31 AM
So now we have someone to tell Trent to throw the darn ball. too bad we didn't have that last year, when he was afraid to throw downfield! this is the kick in the butt Edwards coulda use.
remember, sports is entertainment, or supposed to be. maybe now we actually will be entertained rather than feel like we just wasted 3 hours of our life every sunday.

Check your stats Rick. I'll take Mr noodle arm any day. Good Luck with the new receiver, should make things interesting this year in the AFC East!!
Posted by: Jason | March 07, 2009 at 11:29 PM
You know you'll all be on the TO bandwagon the second the season starts. We're Bills fans. And after nine awful seasons, we need something. And he brings national attention, and more Monday Night Football. (OK, and a chance at disaster). And besides, it's only one year.
Posted by: kev | March 07, 2009 at 11:24 PM
It's terrific. So far the Buffalo media is handling it badly. Instead of cheering for a top quality receiver they're concentrating on the negative - his temperment, reputation and all the garbage.
I swear, If the Bill drafted Jesus, the Buffalo naysaying media would find something negative to say. "He's not as good as his old Man..."
Welcome, welcome, welcome to Buffalo, Terrell Owens!!!
Posted by: BobbyCat | March 07, 2009 at 11:14 PM
Ok, first of all i don't care people say he's a cancer blah blah blah! you know what? they bills can use it.. They need someone to call them out when they suck.. not jauron or edwards saying the politically correct corporate bull!To will def help the team... when the right plays are called.. they need to let edwards be a field general like kelly, manning, romo, pretty much all the good QBs they have to stop trying to control everything that happens.. And now it's open up the 4 receiver set or three receiver and people have to respect TO and Evans.. not more loading the box!! i love it.. is it sept yet?
Posted by: jsins | March 07, 2009 at 10:52 PM
now if they can only sign Mike Vick when he gets out of prison what a combo wow
Posted by: ltc4bill | March 07, 2009 at 10:52 PM
Say what you will about TO - at least he plays with emotion. This is the biggest reason BBs have sucked for the last decade. Football is won and lost with emotion and any spark is welcomed. Look at the successful coach's out there - Bill Check, Toona, Jaw - they all instill emotion. Jauron needs to find some or at least have help. TO is a godsend and I've hated him as much as anyone over the years for all the reasons mentioned. Now he's a BBill. God love him!
Posted by: Nick Saban | March 07, 2009 at 10:35 PM
I'm shocked that Buffalo made such an aggressiveg amble but I have to say I like it. Buffalo needs a offensive threat to pull double's off of Evans. This also should back off defenses from crowding 8 men in the box, which should free up the running game. Also because its a one year deal it forces TO to play nice knowing it affects a new contract next year. Plus he is on the rebound from being rejected and should mean he has something to prove. Good move.
Posted by: Rojo10 | March 07, 2009 at 10:32 PM
I have sat through 2-14 seasons and 4 Super Bowl losses. Always been proud to be a Bills fan until tonight. What the Bills are severely underestimating is that most of the fans who can afford to buy the higher priced seats will not stand for this nonense. I live in Columbus surrounded by Bengals, Browns, and Steelers fans. To a person, the perception is of the Bills being a classy franchise. I know the Bengals and Browns are quite envious after all the embarassments they have faced in recent years. Quite a sad day.
Posted by: ColumbusJoe | March 07, 2009 at 10:32 PM
I agree with everybody. This is a bad move and its a great move. The worst that can happen that the Bills miss the playoffs and Jauron gets fired. Jauron getting fired really isn't bad but I had to put that in there. I think the signing makes the offense better already. If Evans has more room or TO has room to run, I think Edwards can get them the ball. If TO wants a big contract next year, he will behave this year so with all this said, we could really see a different TO next year. I hope so but then again I am sick and tired of missing the playoffs.
Posted by: Mike In Florida | March 07, 2009 at 10:27 PM
This is a great thing! This pathetic team has nothing to lose in spending $6.5M......heck we pay more to Schobel per year and he sucks! TO will drop some passes, but at least he will get open more than 3 yards downfield on 3rd and 6 unlike Reed and Evans.....what does this awful team (9 years without a playoff appearance) really have to lose? If it somehow blows up, then Ralph is out some of his precious money and Mauron and Brandon likely get fired (that sounds great!) or the team competes and makes the playoffs...TO is a cancer, but he can still play football better than anyone the Ills have......does anyone see any future hall of famers on this roster???
Posted by: matt | March 07, 2009 at 10:21 PM
Jason........and you think Tom Noodle arm Brady has such a strong arm? While he is a better QB than Edwards, his arm is no stronger!! Brady does not have a strong arm at all, in fact, he throws 2 yard passes to Welker and to his RB's. The TO signing is a good one. I'm sure if the Pats would have signed him, you would be on here shouting your mouth off!
Posted by: Rick | March 07, 2009 at 10:02 PM
Sniper,
No disrespect, just a little fun. Yes I do remember the many years when the pats sucked to say the least. Sorry you have to work at 6AM better you than me. I'll leave your message board alone. Good luck next year.
Posted by: Jason | March 07, 2009 at 09:55 PM
This is a disaster. TO is all about TO and nobody else, certainly not the Buffalo Bills. He needed to sign with someone to have his reality tv show go. Dick Jauron is not going to be able to handle him. Has any team that ever signed him won the big one... no.
Posted by: Pat Moss | March 07, 2009 at 09:54 PM
This years scam to sell tickets. Marv will roll over in his retirement. How about a midget to kick field goals ?
Posted by: george | March 07, 2009 at 09:53 PM
Yes Jason, because for the 30+years before Belichek, the Pats were such a proud and prosperous franchise. 30+ years of being the NFL doormats, one good coach and your some epic franchise. Remember where you come from, nothing, absolutely nothing. 34 years of losing and a few of winning, tell us all about how it goes Jason.
Saturday night and your on a Bills board shooting your trap off, nice life chump.
I have to work at 6am, whats your excuse. Go find a Pats board to play on, wallflower.
Posted by: Sniper | March 07, 2009 at 09:43 PM
This just makes me sick. Let's be really honest about this. Jones released Owens when he did because he was searching high & low among his league friends & confidants for someone, anyone, to tell him keeping Owens was smart, & wouldn't hurt his team further. When he couldn't find one person who would tell him that, he was forced to release him. Go back to the combine, when Jones' comments intimated that Owens would be on the Cowboys roster come opening day. Why the quick change of heart? Because everyone told him to get rid of him & he couldn't defend keeping Owens any longer. If, & I don't think he ever was going to be, Trent Edwards was ever going to be a real, bona fide NFL QB, this just did severe damage to that possibility. The good news is that if (when) this blows up in the Bills faces like I expect it to, maybe we will go out & get a real GM, with a real coach, a real NFL QB, some good scouts to find decent players, & maybe a RB who won't make the police blotter every off-season. I hope I'm wrong. Really I do. But history tells me I'm not.
