Kiper picks Bills No. 1

The NFL Draft is over. Let the armchair general managing begin.

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper, asked to pick the team that had the best draft overall late last night on the network's wrapup, picked the Buffalo Bills. "Buffalo solidified everything except the offensive tackle spot," Kiper said.

ESPN's Todd McShay picked the New York Giants as the best overall. Here's what McShay said about the Bills on ESPN.com: "On paper this is one of the best drafts of 2009. I would have liked to see them take an OT with one of their two first-round picks and Wood was a bit of a reach late in the first, he and G Andrew Levitre will ultimately become starters and boost what was the weakest area of the team entering the draft. Buffalo's second biggest priority was to upgrade its pass rush and that goal was accomplished by selecting Maybin, who is the best pure edge rusher in this class. Maybin will play in a rotation with Chris Kelsay and Aaron Schobel early on and will have time to get bigger and stronger. And watch out for TE Shawn Nelson, who could turn into a late-round steal."

From Dallas Morning News' Rick Gosselin. Gosselin gave two teams an A (Houston and Arizona). He gave seven teams a B, and the Bills were one of them. The rest of the teams got C or worse. Wrote Gosselin: "The Bills needed to retool their offensive line to give QB Trent Edwards and RB Marshawn Lynch a chance, and they did so with Wood and Levitre. Maybin also brings speed to a pass rush that sorely needs it."

Pete Prisco of CBSSportsline.com gave the Bills a B-minus. FoxSports.com's John Czarnecki gave the Bills a B.

Naturally nobody knows. But after three months of buildup and wall-to-wall coverage all weekend, fans want to get some kind of assessement. So we give it to them. Even though nobody knows.
