Finally, the Bills drafted a tight end and got a good one in Shawn Nelson in the fourth round. He's 6-5, 238 pounds and runs a 4.5 40. He was the third rated TE behind Brandon Pettigrew and Jared Cook by Mel Kiper, Jr. Kiper also listed him 44th overall, while the Dallas Morning News rated him 55th overall.
He has polished skills and the Bills feel he will help immediately. The Bills want him to get up to 255. Tall and lanky who developed into Southern Miss' best pass catcher during his time with the team, but also showed impressive blocking technique averaging 45 knockdown per season during his career.
UPDATE: Here's what Bills scout Shawn Heinlen said about Nelson: "Shawn is an extremely athletic tight end that can help right away in the passing game. He is a vertical threat with excellent hands and athletic ability. He runs very well for his size and will create matchup issues with linebackers and safeties."
