Game notes @ GB

GREEN BAY -- Not a good start for Trent Edwards. He threw a pick on the first drive and held the ball too long on the sack-fumble play on the second series. The Pack only rushed four in a zone-dog on the sack, and Edwards had time to unload. He needed to be much more careful down around his own goal line on that play.

Good to see the Bills pound the run on the first thid-and-1 situation. The line needs to develop a tough mentality.

Here's a tough matchup for the BIlls: When Bryan Scott covers a tight end who's really a wideout - like the Pack's Jermichael Finley. Finley got open 1 on 1 over the middle for a 21 yard gain on the Pack's third drive. That helped set up the second TD. Pack 14-0.

Pretty ugly first half -- 24-0.

I think this was a matchup where the Bills sorely miss Terrell Owens. Green Bay has two shutdown corners in Charles Woodson and Al Harris. They can lock teams up on the outside. The Bills need another go-to target against this team.

That being said, that doesn't excuse the way the team looks so bad against a 3-4 front.

Afterward the Bills talked a lot about how they don't prepare and game plan for a preseason opponent. That's true. But this game does not inspire confidence over the 3-4 matchup they face in Week One at New England.

Etc: I'd rather not see Leodis McKelvin return any kickoffs in the preseason. ... I thought the second-team D-line had a good game - all four guys, Ellis, Johnson, McCargo and Bryan.
