Jackson upbeat

Bills running back Fred Jackson was upbeat about his thumb injury after practice today. Jackson left practice on Tuesday due to a bruise and sore ligament on the upper thumb and wrist area.

"I feel good," Jackson said. "It was a little scary yesterday when I first did it but I feel fine right now. We’ll see how things progress from today to tomorrow."

Jackson said X-rays on the thumb were negative.

"That’s always a good thing when the X-rays come back negative. I’m enthusiastic about that. Hopefully I can get back as soon as possible. .. I’ll try to get back as soon as I can because we’ve still got work to do and I still need to be out there with those guys."

Jackson said he thinks there's still a chance he could return to practice as early as Thursday and he would not rule himself out for Saturday's game at Pittsburgh.

Given the fact Jackson needs to start the season opener at New England, due to Marshawn Lynch's suspension, don't be surprised if Dick Jauron errson the side of caution and holds him out vs. the Steelers.
