T.O. plugging away

Terrell Owens talked to the media for about 10 minutes today. It was a pretty straightforward briefing. So here's the entire transcript.

On getting the ball more often on offense:
We are going with the plays that are called and we are going with Trent’s (Edwards) progression. And that’s really what myself and Lee (Evans) can do, is just wait for the opportunity.

On the offense being what it was envisioned to be:
All I can say is I am working hard and we are working hard as a team. We are just going with the opportunities. For me, I just have to make what is best of the opportunities that come my way.

On more opportunities against the Dolphins this week:
You go into the game thinking that way, but you just have to keep working hard and make the most of the opportunities, that is all I can do.

On being a target on offense in the past:
I don’t know. I can give you a breakdown and give you highlights, but what good is that going to do? You guys see the games and the highlights. I play that game and I can only do what I can do

On the importance of not being a disruption this season:
They brought me here to give this team a lift and create some opportunities and I don’t know what else to say. I just want to try to stay positive, keep working hard and hope for the best. That is all I can do.

On what he can do to help the team:
I am doing it every day. I just have to keep plugging away and run my routes. That is about all I can do.

On what Rodney Harrison said:
I have already responded to that. It is what it is. Those guys are going to say what they want to say and I can only take so much of being the butt of someone’s jokes. They want to try to get on there and make a name for themselves, but I’m not going to allow someone to just call me a clown and just run all over me. I have been taking enough heat as it is with the media. When you have someone who as played this game, but I have responded the way I knew how, said what I had to say and left it at that.

On having a rivalry with Harrison:
Not really. I played with him when I was in San Francisco. We pretty much got the best of him. Other than that he is just a regular loud mouth safety. He is pretty good back there, but other than that I don’t know what prompts guys to get on national television and say some of the things they have to say.

On being frustrated about taking his words out of context:
It is very frustrating because I think that some of the guys and the coaches want to me step up and be more vocal and say things as a leader. I feel like sometimes I try to do that, try to say things in a sublet way with out being harsh, but other outlets are taking those quotes, making them headlines and making them more of an issue than they really are. I think that that is why the first couple of games I tended not to say anything after the games.

On being more subtle this season:
That is because I have always been vocal and always spoken honestly and I think over the years that has gotten me in trouble and created some sort of division in the locker room with some of the guys on the team and I just try to do the right thing now. Even when I try to do the right thing, it is not the right thing. I am in a situation where I am in a no win situation. So I just try to be the best I can be without offending someone.

On his comments on Twitter:
I think I choose what I say very wisely. I don’t think I say anything out of the way that would have created any type of controversy or division within this locker room. If I fire back at someone who is making an asinine comment about me, then yes I am going to fire back and I think that is an avenue with Twitter I can use to get my point across.

On getting involved in the game early:
If you go back to the teams that I played with, whether it is the receiver coach or the head coach, I have heard throughout the course of the game and watching the replays of the game just to get me involved early and often. I think that is one of the reasons why I am here is to help with the passing game and obviously with Lee (Evans) who is more than a viable threat on the other side. We just have to get more opportunities and however that happens that happens, but we are just going with the opportunities we have.

On his thoughts about last week's game:
Obviously we lost. We had some opportunities there to win the game. It was 10-7 and we missed some connection there where we could have gone up on them and then probably put them in a situation where they have to pass a lot. I really don’t think enough credit has been given to our defense because they played a hell of a ball game. When you think about what they (New Orleans) have done the last two weeks prior to playing us, they have put up big numbers. (Drew) Brees has put up some big numbers as far as yardage and we eliminated the things that they did in getting into the end zone. So they (Bills defense) played a tremendous ball game and offensively we didn’t help the defense out. We took some knocks all the way around with the game and with some injuries. So we just have to keep getting better, keep plugging away and I think the guys are doing that.
