Upbeat about Byrd

Bills head coach Dick Jauron sounded upbeat about the health status of free safety Jairus Byrd after Wednesday's practice at the team's fieldhouse.

Byrd has been playing with discomfort the past couple weeks in the area where he had surgery to repair a sports hernia in July. Byrd saw a specialist in Philadelphia on Monday and indicated he'd have a better idea how it feels after a practice or two next week.

“I’ve talked to him, he feels good about the trip," Jauron said. "It kind of reinforced what we’ve been telling him here and what he knew, but it was definitely worth the trip. We anticipate he’ll be fine as we move along. I’m not saying it won’t be sore, but he understands that.”

The Bills, obviously, need Byrd on the field the second half of the season.

Why even bother quoting Mauron? When I see his name in a paragraph I skip right over it.

The press should boycott Mauron.

Half season thoughts:
From Marcus Stroud to Jairus Byrd, there are quality players working to win. I've got to salute them, and see the makings of a winning (eventually playoff team). Don't give up on them, yet.
But only if there is a genuine GM, Head Coach, and QB. The right ones can turn the Bills' fortunes around quickly. Spend the money, Ralph. Yes, there are players who don't qualify as NFL caliber and are overmatched game after game.
Players as Donte Whitner who lead in the locker room (and at their homes) are rare. Fans know what is needed. The guys know Jauron will be gone soon enough. That means the GM is first on the order list. ASAP.

Hi Mark
How do you tell when Jauron is upbeat when he seems to always have that same morbid look on his face. Here we are at the mid point of the season and the coaches are still talking about trying to figure out what is wrong. I think they should take a page from the RedSkins and bring in a outside advisor that knows something about offense and personnel for help. Leavitt played tackle in college move him out to tackle and bring Mckinny in at guard, Leavitt has to be better than Chambers. Chambers has to be the worst tackle ever, move him behind the bench and forget about him.

I'm watching the UFL right now and JP Losman is looking pretty good!

Lets not put expectations on this kid that he cant fulfill. He gives it all he has every play but is one player on this inadequate team. I hope he holds it together long enough to see this team grow or till he can get out of here.
