We're waiting to see who Chan Gailey will hire as new defensive coordinator. Today it seems we're getting a better idea of who it's not going to be. The website ProFootballTalk.com reports that former New England defensive chief Dean Pees is going to Baltimore to be Ravens linebackers coach.
Meanwhile former Seattle defensive backs coach Tim Lewis is going to Atlanta to hold the same position. Pees was allowed to part ways with Bill Belichick after four seasons as the Pats' defensive chief. Lewis ran Bill Cowher's defense in Pittsburgh for four years but was fired from that post in 2003. No word yet on what Pees' hiring means for the Ravens' linebackers coach this past season, Vic Fangio (left). He is a veteran of 24 NFL seasons and would be an impressive addition to any staff, particularly Buffalo's. Fangio knows the 3-4 defense.
