Draft watch: Pat Angerer
Pat Angerer, ILB, Iowa
6-0, 235
Draft projection: Third to fifth rounds
Angerer was a fan favorite in Iowa. He's a native of the state, he plays an aggressive style, he was the respected team captain and he's a good quote. He ranked fourth in the nation in tackles with 11.2 per game.
Before playing a game this year with an injured thumb: "You don't need thumbs...my best friend is my brother's dog and he doesn't have thumbs. He does fine!" On a favorite food: "I’m a big fan of green bean casserole. [My mom] makes really good green bean casserole and so does my girlfriend. That’s probably why I stuck with her this long."
Angerer proposed to his girlfriend of six years after the Hawkeyes beat Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl and she said yes.
The problem for Angerer is he's a bit small for a middle backer. So was Chris Spielman (who was a much higher-rated prospect.)
