The Buffalo Bills added their second running back in a week today, signing free-agent Rodney Ferguson.
Ferguson went undrafted out of New Mexico last April and signed as a rookie free agent with Tennessee. He spent a portion of the 2009 season on the Titans' practice squad. Five days ago, the Bills signed running back Walter Mendenhall, another street free agent who went undrafted in 2009. This gives the Bills just four running backs on the roster. The two newcomers join Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch. Most teams take six running backs to training camp. (Two other backs who ended last season with the team - Justise Hairston and Bruce Hall - no longer are on the roster. Last week it was incorrectly reported here that they were still Bills property).
Ferguson rushed for 3,564 yards in college. He's a big back (6 feet, 234 pounds) in the mold that the Titans like.
