PITTSFORD -- Wide receiver Marcus Easley and linebacker Danny Batten won't be helping the Bills this season. Both rookies were placed on the injured reserve list on Sunday.
Easley just had surgery on his damaged knee. Batten has been out with a shoulder injury. Both were hurt very early in training camp, so neither were able to show what they could do. Easley's injury opened the door for fellow rookie wideout David Nelson to impress enough to probably make the team.
Head coach Chan Gailey said putting the players on I.R. was necessary since both would miss a significant portion of the season recovering.
