PITTSFORD -- It looks like the right ankle running back Marshawn Lynch sprained in the preseason opener at Washington might not be as bad as first feared. It was believed Lynch would be sidelined three to four weeks, but head coach Chan Gailey offered a more optimistic outlook.
"I think it’s not a major injury by any stretch of the imagination and I would think he could be back by the last preseason game,” Gailey said after the Monday night practice. ”That’s what we’re hoping anyway.”
If Lynch were able to come back by the final exhibition, Fred Jackson wouldn't have to rush back from his broken hand because Lynch and Spiller are capable of handling the backfield workload while Jackson recovers.
