Kyle Williams first Pro Bowl alternate

Just because Bills nose tackle Kyle Williams wasn't voted to the AFC Pro Bowl team doesn't mean he won't be going to Hawaii.

Williams revealed Thursday that he has been named a first alternate at defensive tackle and would replace either New England's Vince Wilfork, Baltimore's Haloti Ngata or Oakland's Richard Seymour if one of them can't play in the game.

Wilfork and Ngata are on teams with a legitimate shot to reach the Super Bowl, which would eliminate one of them from the Pro Bowl, which is held January 30, a week before Super Bowl XVL.

Sounding like someone who didn't win the Academy Award, Williams said he was just happy to be nominated.

"It's always an honor to get recognized by your fans, guys you played against and the coaches that coach against you," Williams said. "So I'm honored with anything that I get."

Williams has established career highs with 75 tackles and a team-leading 5.5 sacks this season. Only Cleveland nose tackle Ahtyba Rubin (79) has more tackles among defensive linemen, according to NFL.com.

"If one of those guys can't go and I get the opportunity to go, I'd love to go and represent our organization, our team, obviously my family and things like that,'' Williams said. "That would be a great honor."
