The Road to the Draft: OT James Carpenter

James Carpenter, OT, Alabama
6-foot-4, 321 pounds
Draft projection: Late second or third round

Lowdown: Carpenter started two full seasons, 27 games, at left tackle for Alabama after coming from junior college. He’s raw but he has long arms and good physical tools overall. He could project to right tackle or left tackle. The right side might be the best fit. He played well against good competition at the Senior Bowl, where he worked under the watch of Bills coaches. Is he nasty enough and competitive enough? That's often a consideration with raw, big guys. He could be a consideration for Buffalo in the third round, if he lasts that long.
