Hillis out for Browns; Foster likely a no-go

The big fantasy news this morning comes out of Cleveland, where Browns running back Peyton Hillis has been ruled out because of illness.

Here's a look at some of the other 1 p.m. question marks, and what their status is: Texans RB Arian Foster is likely out with his hamstring injury; Eagles quarterback Michael Vick will start against the Giants despite suffering a concussion last week against the Giants and in the same game, New York WR Mario Manningham will be out with a concussion.

I'm also taking Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew out of the lineup. He's questionable with a shoulder injury, but missed practice Wednesday and Thursday.

Other players I'd sit include Chargers tight end Antonio Gates, who's listed as questionable with a foot injury. Early reports are he won't play. Quite frankly, the Chargers don't need him against the Chiefs. Need a sleeper at tight end? Try the Bills' Scott Chandler. Three TDs in the first two weeks speaks for itself.

In Denver, even though Knowshon Moreno might play, it sounds like Willis McGahee is going to get more of the carries. He's the play.

Some other random thoughts before Week Three kicks off:

- I'd start Dexter McCluster at running back over Thomas Jones if you have a Chiefs handcuff for the injured Jamaal Charles.

- If you're thin on running backs, consider C.J. Spiller today. Just a hunch.

- Believe the hype against Cam Newton. The Panthers' rookie gets the Jaguars at home. Jacksonville is pretty good against the run, so Newton can be expected to put it up today.

Best of luck this weekend!
