Draft projection: third round
Lowdown: A lot of experts had Robinson pegged as a fourth- or fifth-round pick before the NFL Scouting Combine. Then he ran a 40-yard dash time of 4.33 seconds, fastest among all players at the scouting workout. He also had a 38-inch vertical jump.
“They told me I wouldn’t be drafted in the top three rounds,” Robinson said of the draft advisory board that evaluated him after the college season. “So that gave me motivations. That made me want to prove that I could be drafted higher than that and do better than what some people believe I can.”
Robinson is a big talent who’s leaving college a year early. He was recruited by Michigan and Auburn but opted to stay closer to home for college. While he has limited experience against elite receivers, he had a solid showing against Georgia’s A.J. Green in the 2010 Liberty Bowl. He played in zone coverage most of the time in college, and may fit that role best in the NFL. He’s 20 credit-hours shy of getting a degree in criminal justice.
