The Buffalonians shouldn't be up!
They are putting the tree up at The Buffalo News. That is it pictured above!
And at St. Vincent de Paul on Main Street, where workers were scurrying around this morning with tabletop trees and strings of lights. By the way here is a picture of Vinnie D's world-class tchotchke collection, so you may begin your Christmas shopping early.
It is never too early for Christmas as far as Buzz is concerned. For instance today we cheered the First Christmas Cookies Being Baked By a Rock 'n Roll Artist.
Election Day, the new start of the Christmas season.
You may eat!

Thinking about Melvin Seals at the Tralf tonight got us thinking about Terrapin Station which had a poll about what was the best thing about summer. It is too late to vote. The polls are over with, just like the summer! But you can enjoy their findings.
I'm loving it all, whatever comes: 27 %.
Laughter, sunshine and gratitude: 7.4 %.
Checking out the free music everywhere: 6.4 %.
Twirling in my big skirt: 3.2 %.
Hanging out in the parks: 1.1 %.
Mixing new hookah flavors: 7.4 %.
Playing my guitar and singing: 11.5 %.
Oh, heck! Here we were all looking forward to fall and Christmas and this poll was just too funny. Now all we want is summer.

We start this week with a feeling of well being because not only have the Bills carried off a massive victory, but we were visited last week by two classic heads of '80s hair.
One was Sarah Brightman, whom Buzz beheld at UB's Center For the Arts.
The other, Bernadette Peters, whom Buzz had the honor of seeing at Kleinhans Music Hall. Here is the exquisite and exclusive Buffalo News photo, taken by Harry Scull:
What marvelous manes! Having them both here within days of each other is rare, like a solar eclipse.
Clearly Buffalo's planets are lined up right!

The problem isn't that the temperatures will soon be falling. Buzz likes the fall, with the cider, and the stews, and the yummy Oktoberfest ales.
The problem is that today is the last day you can officially wear your summer clothes!
So what if the clouds are gathering. Buzz is running around in a retro sleeveless pink dress with a bow in the back. Ridiculous any time of year, but in a couple of days it will be prohibitively ridiculous.
A colleague on another floor is sporting an outrageous Hawaiian shirt.
Technically you can still wear summer duds to Curtain Up! tonight. And we plan to.
Seize the summer clothes!
Seize the day!

Teacher, teacher, we declare, we see Diana Krall's underwear!
She should sue!
Someone apparently sneaked into her dressing room and snapped her in her, ahem, foundation garment. Either that or she had a little too much of that Frim Fram Sauce and walked out on stage mistakenly without her blouse, and a photographer took advantage.
Whatever, Niagara Fallsview Casino is using the picture to promote her concerts there in early October.

Buzz's new friend "Doctor John" Bisci, voice of Club 747, passes along this picture of himself and his fellow disco DJs gathered for a charity reunion, the Hustle for a Cure Charity Event at First Niagara Center on Friday night.
Priceless! If this is not a clip-and-save picture Buzz does not know what is.
This explains Doctor John's stealth flight into Buffalo.
Thing like this do not happen by accident!
September 7, 2013 - 12:38 PM
Adding sparkle to this rainy Buffalo weekend is "Doctor" John Bisci, the DJ of the long-gone disco Club 747, immortalized in the above video. Bisci now lives and works in Las Vegas and he was in town on business.
Doctor John is not to be confused with the bluesman Dr. John! Originally, Bisci told Buzz, he worried when he was told to take that name, because the New Orleans bluesman already had it.
Then he reasoned that the musician Dr. John's real name is Mac Rebennack. In any case, Dr. John from New Orleans has been gracious and has never protested.
Bisci had to take a nickname, he said, because all the deejays back then had nicknames. There was Charles "Captain Disco" Anzalone, Charlie "CC" Cimino and someone else he mentioned to us who went by General Mills, hahahaha!
We liked how Bisci, who is now pretty dapper (he's at right, under the banner, in this pic)...
... sees the humor in the situation.
He said: "The first night I announced I was Doctor John, I was laughing so hard."
Denise, the superb stylist at Supercuts on Sheridan and Eggert, told Buzz the other day that she has cut Stephen Henderson's hair.
She confirmed that yes, he goes to Supercuts! We knew there was something we liked about him.
Henderson looks happy with his haircut.
Supercuts of the rich and famous!
Buffalo being the birthplace of air conditioning, let us toast this hot afternoon by conferring an award that shall surely turn out to be the first in a long and distinguished series.
It is an award for prominent and strategically placed window air conditioner!
With pride we present our first awardee.
This is, of course, St. Mary's School For the Deaf.
It is possible we are starting at the top. St. Mary's sets the bar very high. The building is stately, beautiful and architecturally significant. It boasts several prominent window air conditioners but the one that really nets the school the award is the one perfectly, gloriously located, right over the cross placed over the grand front entrance.
Congratulations, St. Mary's School For The Deaf!
Very, very cool!
Western New York's high school proms get better and better! Seen last night at the Statler, a kilt.
An actual kilt! Such as Prince Charles or Buzz's favorite royal, Prince Philip, might wear.
The young man confident enough to sport this fashion with aplomb: James Nash, of Attica High School, whose prom was being held at the Statler, along with Cardinal O'Haras. Mr. Nash says his background is Scottish and we believe him. His date is Kara Manzanares of Orchard Park.
Fashion kudos to them both.
Also... love the sneakers.
