Live from Canisius vs. Long Island
HEMPSTEAD -- The Canisius softball team is looking to win its first NCAA tournament game since 2000 as it takes on Long Island University in an elimination game at Hofstra Softball Stadium.
The Golden Griffins were shut out of game one agaisnt Arizona making it four straight NCAA tourney games that they've failed to score a run.

First inning
Katie Miranto had a two-out double but the Griffs failed to move her any further.
Three up, three down for LIU for a scoreless first inning.
Second inning
The Griffs got the bat on the ball, but went down in order.
Celina Castillo had a leadoff single and went to second on a wild pitch. Raylene Asman drew a two-out walk but Brynn Lewis flew out to centerfield to end the scoring threat.
Third inning
The Griffs took a 2-0 lead as a pair of Long Island errors put runners on first and second. After two short flyouts, Katie Miranto drew a walk. With the bases loaded and two outs, Michelle Fridey's bunt got her to first and scored two runs. Miranto ran through the coach's stop sign at third and was called out at the plate to end the half inning.
The Blackbirds went down in order as Canisius holds on to a 2-0 lead.
Fourth inning
A walk to Paige Freiberger gave Canisius a baserunner, but no one got into scoring position.
With the bases loaded and two outs Brynn Lewis drove a 2-2 pitch to short center field, scoring two runs to tie the game (2-2).
Fifth inning
Canisius grounded out three times to go down in order.
Lindsay Morris came into pitch for the Griffs and strikes out two. The game is still tied, 2-2.
Sixth inning
Another three up, another three down for Canisius.
Celina Castillo got her third hit of the day for Long Island with Vanessa Mejia drawing a walk to put runners at first and second with one out. Brittany Murphy grounded out to short, advancing the runners to second and third with two outs but Morris struck out Raylene Asman to end the inning.
Seventh inning
With two outs and two on Jenny Maheu doubled to left centerfield to give Canisius a 3-2 lead in the final inning.
Amanda MacIntosh had a one-out single but a pop up to the catcher and strike out ended the game.
Final
Canisius wins, 3-2 to get its first NCAA win since 2000. The Griffs will play Hofstra at 10 a.m. on Sunday with the winner advancing to the championship game against Arizona at noon.
