UB 28, Ball State 17 - End of third quarter
UB is making quite a living off fumble recoveries, a living that could lead them to one of the biggest upsets in college football this season. Sherrod Lott took one back to the house for 74 yards and Mike Newton took one back 92 yards to give the Bulls a 28-17 lead heading into the final quarter against the nation's 12th ranked team. The two fumble recoveries ties an NCAA record held by USC in 2003 against UCLA.
Both fumbles came off Ball State quarterback Nate Davis. The stunning part about all this is that before the first fumble, the only Newton collected, the Cardinals looked ready to take a 10-point lead against the Bulls.

THERE'S a Buffalo-based sports team that plays to GET THE JOB DONE!
We hear about "what nice men" Lindy Ruff and Dicky Jauron are. Well, here's a "nice man," Turner Gill, who demands that the players under his watch do their jobs and get them right.
Turner Gill, you are INDEED an inspiration, not to mention a treasured asset, to the Western New York community! God bless!

I haven't enjoyed a Buffalo sports moment this much since "51-3". I never thought UB Football could be .500, let alone a conference champion.
Obviously the work Coach Gill has done is amazing.
Congratulations to President Simpson for identifying men such as Warde Manuel and Turner Gill. Now, good luck keeping them here.

Congratulations to UB!! As a displaced Buffalonian, stuck in Peoria, Illinois, it has been with much pride and admiration that I've followed this season. Buffalo deserves a strong college athletics presence and both the Football and Basketball teams are a shining star for the city! We're all so very, VERY proud of the Bulls. Here's to the first of many titles to come! Cheers!!!!
Please lock up Turner Gill for life!
