The national average for Football Bowl Subdivision teams was 941, and only four MAC teams were above it and nine below. The average for D-I basketball is 933, so 10 A-10 schools were ahead of that and seven MAC and MAAC schools were ahead of that or right at the mark.
For the first time, the NCAA issued postseason bans for poor academic performance and penalized the Centenary men's basketball team and the Jacksonville State and Tennessee-Chattanooga football teams. Jacksonville State is appealing its ban.
