UB 57, Canisius 57, 6:38 left: Bulls reel off 12-0 run for 57-54 lead before Hymes hits a layup and converts from line. Canisius hurting on the inside. Elton Frazier fouled out with 10:02 left, Tomas Vazquez-Simmons with 8:19 left. Griffs definitely miss Chris Gadley, who's on academic suspension. Sophomore trasnfer Zach Filzen had five in UB run.
Canisius 54, UB 49, 11:21 left: Coles has 12 in half and 22 for game. Logans rebound jam pushed lead to 54-45 before Bulls got an inside basket from Alston and a fastbreak layup from Pierce. Griffs 9-15 FG in half, UB 3-11 with five TOs.
Canisius 50, UB 45, 13:21 left: Coles follows Logans 3 with one of his own. 18-3 start to half for Griffs, who've 'D'd' it up big time.
Canisius 47, UB 45: Logans 3 puts Griffs ahead with just over 14 left.
UB 45, Canisius 39, 17:28 2nd: Griffs open half with fast-break layups by Coles and Hymes and a three-point play by Logins before Bulls get a three-point play of their own from Robinson.
HALF: UB 42, Canisius 32: Canisius can't get a handle on UB's inside-outside game. If the Bulls aren't scoring from three they're making hay in the paint. Frank Turner keeping Griffs in this one with slashing drives through lane. Turner and Coles each have 10, Pierce and Boudreau eight each for Bulls. UB 16-35 FG, Griffs 10-22 as 12 TOs have limited shot count. UB 21-15 on the boards. T-Rob has seven rebs. for Bulls, and Turner seven of Canisius' 15. Logans playing just six minutes a major problem for Griffs.
UB 40, Canisius 31, 3:39: A barrage of threes, two by Sean Smiley and one by Pierce, send Bulls up as many as 13 before Griffs counter. To that point UB had been struggling with offensive flow as PG Boyer went to bench with second foul with 8:18 left. Griffs coach Tom Parrotta obviously worried this one could get away before half: he reinserted F Logans (two fouls) with 4:39 left (he came back out soon after). Bulls 6-13 from three and 15-29 overall. Griffs hurt by 11 TOs.
UB 25, Canisius 21, 7:42: Sloppy sequence. UB's lone basket a straight-in 18F bank-in by Robinson with shot clock winding down. Griffs manage three FTs. Griffs 7-15 FG, UB 10-22. Turner has seven. Boudreau's six tops for Bulls.
UB 22,Canisiuis 18, 11:56: Both teams shooting it up in an exhange of baskets. Since the last break: Alston layup, Turner drive, Boudreau 12F, Coles 15 F, Boudreau 15F, Turner drive, Bourdreau 8F, Rishawn Johnson inside. Boudreau had way inside with Logins on bench. Upon returning Logins picks up second foul, both for pushoffs on the offensive end.
UB 14, Canisius 10, 15:33: Bulls have points from five players and threes from Betts, Pierce and Boyer. Coles and Logins have hit from long range for Griffs. Bulls causing Griffs grief on boards with four offensive rebounds.
