UB-Army Game Analysis
UB 74, Army 67
Game Analysis: Bulls perserved despite shooting a scant 28.6 percent from the floor in the second half. Offense continues to search for continuity. Mitchell Watt and Jawaan Alston produced key blocks down the stretch and John Boyer went 7 of 8 from the line inside the final 50 seconds.
How UB Won: Boyer's free throws keyed a 28-of-35 shooting night from the line for the bigger Bulls. Five straight points from Sean Smiley, the last coming on a three with 3:30 remaining, put UB up six after Army had closed within one.
Player of Game: What a show by Army sophomore guard Julian Simmons, who struck for 30 points in 27 minutes on 12-of-20 shooting from the field. Wow. The Cadets are going to be a tough out in the Patriot League.
Stat of the Game: 22 UB turnovers. And Bulls still won.
He Said It:. "That's one of the things that makes a team like this (Army) really difficult to play against, is they're so doggone determined," said UB coach Reggie Witherspoon.
In the House: 1,554.
Next Up: Bulls visit fourth-ranked Purdue at 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
