Nicholson out for Bonnies

St. Bonaventure likely will be without star center Andrew Nicholson against Dayton tonight in the Reilly Center. The Atlantic 10's leading scorer in conference games (19.0), Nicholson was hospitalized from about 2-7 this morning because of food poisoning. He could play but it's not expected, and that's a major blow for the Bonnies and erases the key matchup in tonight's game: Nicholson vs. 6-8 Dayton JR Chris Wright.

There's more sobering news. Jonathon Hall turned his left ankle in practice Wednesday. He's expected to go, but it's unclear whether he'll be limited. Hall suffered a right ankle injury a couple of weeks ago.

This had shaped up as a potential "moving up" game for the Bonnies. Dayton, nationally ranked earlier in the season, has lost three of four. A victory would move the Bonnies into a tie for sixth in the A-10 with Saint Louis. Now it seems like a much longer shot than the opening 3 1/2-point spread favoring Dayton installed by the oddsmakers.
