Live: Canisius-Marist men's basketball

The Canisius men's basketball team opens its final home stand of the season in less than 30 minutes, hosting Marist at the Koessler Athletic Center. The Golden Griffins are on a three-game losing skid while Marist is 1-23 overall and has dropped its last 12 games.

Canisius won the meeting at Marist back on Jan. 9, 72-57. In that game Elton Frazier had 25 points and 10 rebounds while Frank Turner remains ranked second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a 16.9 points per game scoring average.

Check back during the game for updates.

First half:
15:28: A slow start has Canisius up, 5-0 on a three-pointer by Robert Goldsberry and a fastbreak layup by Frank Turner. The Griffs have played good defense and while they missed their first three shots, are taking care of the ball to start the game.
11:41: The three-pointers are falling for the Griffs, who have taken a 14-2 lead. Greg Logins, Julius Coles and Goldsberry hit from long-range in that segment. Marist, meanwhile, is just 1-for-9 from the field to start the game.
7:20: Marist got some points from the free throw line and a three-pointer from Korey Bauer, but the Griffs still hold a 22-11 lead despite a drop-off in execution during this segment.
3:57: Canisius holds on to a double-digit lead, 27-17. Julius Coles leads the Griffs with eight points.

Halftime: Canisius came up empty in its last nine possessions of the half while Marist scored twice in the final minute to cut the lead to single digits. The Griffs lead, 27-21, at the break.

Second half:
18:22: Marist calls timeout after a thunderous start to the half for Canisius. After a pair of three-pointers from Thomas Vazquez-Simmons, the Griffs turn a steal into a 3-on-1 with Frank Turner feeding Elton Frazier for a dunk and a 35-23 lead.
15:49: A dunk by Vazquez-Simmons continues some highlight moves for the Griffs who hold a 37-35 lead.
11:48: Canisius showed some good offensive rebounding in the last segment, holding on to a 43-32 lead.
11:20: Discussion ensues at the KAC as Marist's Korey Bauer was called for a flagrant foul and ejected from the game after knocking down Canisius guard Robert Goldsberry. ... And the hits keep coming for Marist. Arguing possession after the flagrant free throws, head coach Chuck Martin received two technical fouls and was tossed from the game.
7:01: Hitting their free throws, the Griffs have extended their lead to 61-39. Four players are in double figures for Canisius, led by Logins with 16.
3:43: Canisius leads 64-46, poised to end its three-game losing skid.

Final: Canisius wins, 71-56 to improve to 12-14 overall, 7-8 in the MAAC. Marist drops to 1-24 and 1-14 in the MAAC.
