MAC Tournament

Just witnessed on of the great performances in MAC Tournament history as Ohio's Armon Bassett torched Kent State for 38 points in the Bobcats' 81-64 upset of the tourney's top seed. Surprised? Not me. Ohio's been a team fast on the rise and by no means does this signify a clear path for UB to the final if they handle Miami (Ohio) in tonight's remaining quarterfinal.

Bassett's a 6-2 junior from Terre Haute, Ind. He's strong, quick and possesses a deadly hesitation move off the dribble that Kent couldn't contend with. He was 9 of 17 from the field and 16 for 16 from the line with seven assists. He had to play 17 minutes on the point in the first half when freshman D.J. Cooper went to the bench with two fouls.

The game of the day was Akron's double OT victory over Eastern Michigan. Zips sent the game into a second OT when Steve McNees dribbled end line to arc and swished a fallaway three as time expired. Zips won in similar style over Toledo last year en route to winning the title.
