Niagara Women Up at Half

ALBANY -- Despite shooting just 32 percent from the field, the Niagara women took a 24-20 lead at halftime of their MAAC quarterfinal battle against fourth seed Manhattan at the Times Union Center this afternoon.

Six different players scored in the opening half for the fifth-seeded Purple Eagles, who came on strong this year to finish 9-9 in MAAC play after finishing 3-28 overall a year ago. Niagara led from the opening tap and fell behind briefly, 14-13, before senior Rachele Folino hit a three-pointer to put the Eagles back on top.

Manhattan, which beat Niagara twice during the regular season, shot 8-for-26 in the first half.
