Temple-UB game thread

FINAL: 42-0. Back to the drawing board.

7:14 4th Quarter: Temple, 42-0.

Clarification: Bittner started game at LT.

Halftime: Temple 28-0 and it's not that close. Abysmal offensive showing for UB, which has 14 yards passing with true frosh Alex Zordich in making his first career start. Back to Jerry Davis in 2nd half? Not that Zordich has had much time. Bulls have shifted G Peter Bittner to T in place of Pat Wilson. A bright light? Three-time all-MAC safety Davonte Shannon is playing like it's a tie game. Shot up to line to make a pair of solo tackles on Temple's last possession.

Halftime Stats: Rushing: Temple, 137-54. Passing: Temple, 80-14. Third Down Conversions: Temple 4 of 7, UB 1 of 9.  Zordich is 1 of 8 with a pick. -- BD

3:28: Temple PK McManus hooks 33 FG attempt wide left. UB gets a reprieve after Elijan Joseph intercepted Zordich pass and returned it 42 yards to UB 16. Jospeh last year picked a pass vs. Bulls and went 95 yards for score that broke game open late in first half.

10:20 2nd Quarter: When does the mercy rule kick in???? Temple 28-0 as Gerardi hooks up with Streater on 42-yard TD pass. CB Sherrod Lott burned badly on play and was flagged for interference for face-guarding. Not that it mattered. So, what's the worst home loss in UB history? Time to scour the archives.--BD

Injury Update: They're saying it's a ankle for Gill. He'll be evaluated at halftime. Reeder lower leg. He's doubtful.

First-Quarter Carnage: First downs, Temple 8-1. Rushing yards, Temple 112-22. Passing yard, Temple 25-0. Third-down conversions, Temple 3-3, UB 0-3. Matt Brown 53 yards on ground, Bernard Pierce 43.

Best News of The Day: The first quarter has ended. Temple, 21-0. UB TB Jeffvon Gill and TE Jake Reeder both helped off field with 4 seconds left in quarter. Looks like knees. Temple went for up-top strike with 26 seconds left in quarter but Domonic Cook picked off Gerardi pass for Streater. Bulls desperate to build some momentum.-- BD

2:06 1st: Time to rake the backyard. Temple 21-0 after Pierce completes run-exclusive drive with a 10-yard burst around the right side. Bulls getting pummelled in every single phase of the game. Owls quick backs finding lots of room to roam.-- BD

5:09 1st: Jeffvon Gill starts at TB for Bulls and rips off 9 on first carry.

5:15 1st: Gerardi to Campbell for a 5-yard TD pass and Temple goes up, 14-0. Have no idea what -UB coach Jeff Quinn was thinking on Bulls first offensive series. If you're going to start the true freshman at QB, then get him in there. That wildcat stuff was a reach, especially after Temple went in for a score off a fumble on the opening kick. This could get real, real ugly.  Oh, and when does punter Jacob Schum take a seat? Yet another lousy kick set up Temple's 50-yard, 10-play march.-- Bob DiCesare

--How's this for something new? UB starts in the Wildcat formation with WR Terrell Jackson center center. His first pass was tipped and nearly intercepted. Then Jackson handed off to Ed Young for a one-yard loss. After that, Alex Zordich moved under center and was sacked.

Temple 7, UB 0, 12:07 left in the first quarter: Bernard Pierce scores from 2-yards out. Looks like points off turnovers will be a negative factor for UB once again.

---UB opens the game with a fumble on the kickoff by Domonic Cook and Temple recovers on the UB 23. Temple starts Mike Gerardi at QB.

---Pregame: Former Bulls Jamey Richard, now of the Indianapolis Colts and Ramon Guzman of the CFL's Montreal Alouettes are attending today's game. They served as honorary captains.
