UB prepares for Kent State

---Reggie Witherspoon apparently figured the best way to attack Kent State was to kill the Golden Flashes with kindness. Not too much kindness, mind you, but nothing to raise the dander of the Flashes.

---Terry Pluto writes that Kent State carries a legacy of championship coaches into another MAC tournament run.

---Northern Illinois coach Ricardo Patton will not be back next year.

---The head of NCAA officiating says the way the refs handled the end of the Rutgers/St. John's game was "unacceptible."

---Sally Jenkins details Georgeotwn's recent slide and rips Austin Freeman for his lack of emotion.

---Former Seton Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez believes the Pirates would have been significantly better this year if he still worked there. Yeah right.

---UConn's Jim Calhoun will not appeal the sanctions handed to him and his program by the NCAA for compliance violations.

---Rodney McKissic

Western New York native Bob DiCesare covers UB football, Big 4 basketball and writes an occasional column. He still holds a grudge against Chris Ford who, he's convinced, cost St. Bonaventure the 1970 NCAA basketball championship.
