OXFORD, Ohio -- We'll be getting underway shortly. UB (2-6, 1-3) vs. Miami (2-5, 1-2). Two teams disappointed in what they've accomplished to this point. . . . Partly cloudy. 54. 10 percent chance of rain. . . . Miami was a 5 1/2-point favorite last I saw. I still like UB today. 27-23. . . . Alex Neutz will be handling punt returns for Bulls, replacing Devon Hughes, who replaced Cortney Lester, who replaced the injured Terrell Jackson. I like the move. Neutz has surest hands on team from what I've seen. Not sure if there's been a chance at kicker. No change noted on the depth chart. It looked in warmups that it was status quo, with Pete Fardon handling short kicks and Pat Clarke warming up from 40 yards and beyond. . . . Miami wins toss and will receive.
FIRST QUARTER
Miami 7-0, 14:22 : Bulls pay big time for blown coverage as Zac Dysert hits Dawan Scott out of backfield and the freshman takes it 71 yards untouched down the middle of the field. LBs Lee Skinner and Jaleel Verser were in pursuit. Imagine one of them missed assignment but not certain as of yet. Could it haven't started worse for Bulls? Only if RedHawks scored on first play, instead of the second.
UB 7, Miami 7, 11:34: Bulls answer with 60-yard touchdown connection between Chazz Anderson and Alex Neutz. Perfectly thrown ball down left sideline after Neutz pulls away from coverage. That's a career-long reception for Neutz (Note that extra point was good). TD came on third-and-8 and completed six-play, 75-yard drive.
Miami 14-7, 6:36: Last possession wins??? RedHawks come right back with 74-yard drive capped by Dysert's 7-yard thrown to Andy Cruse. Bulls went possession with Okoye Houston in for Josh Copeland at strong safety, leading me to believe Copeland was one who missed assignment on the Scott TD.
Miami 14, UB 13, 1:59: Seriously? Last possession wins? Bulls drive for another TD with Anderson plunging in from a yard out. AND THEN FARDON MISSES KICK. Enough. That's it. Either Pat Clarke kicks or Bulls go for two every time. This is ridiculous. Anderson was splendid on drive, completing 29-yarder to Marcus Rivers and beating blitz for 34-yarder to Neutz that took it to the 3. Neutz already over 100 yards receiving for the third time this year.
Miami 21, UB 13, :26: We have our fifth TD of the first quarter. Miami goes 73 in four plays with Dysert to Chris Givens from the 7 capping things off. RedHawks receivers totally confusing Bulls with underneath routes into cleared areas. Dyset 9 of 9 for 187 yards and three TDs. Anderson 8 of 10 for 146 and one.
SECOND QUARTER
Bulls begin quarter with game's first punt. . . . RedHawks sub Dysert with Austin Boucher on first possession of quarter. Not as strange as it may seem. Boucher has seen time this year and he was QB who led Miami to MAC title after Dysert went down injured last year. . . . RedHawks forced to punt after Boucher INC on third and 3. Should have been a pick. ... Bulls punt again. Miami start on own 21. Dysert back in.
MIAMI, 28-13, 5:56 . . . but Dysert throws two incompletions on drive!! 6-yard pass to Justin Semmes finishes 79-yard march. Underneath route to FB after receiver clears. Dysert has matched career single-game high with fourth TD pass. I'm liking his chances of setting new personal best.
HALFTIME: Same score. RedHawks have shut down Oliver (24 yards). Dysert is 15 of 18 for 268 and 4. Anderson is 13 of 19 for 186 and 1. Neutz has four catches for 110.
Bulls have annouced that Neutz is out for the game with a sprained wrist. Not exactly sure how or when it happened. He dropped pass over middle on his last play before leaving so it could have been before then.
THIRD QUARTER
Bulls have nothing to show for two third-quarter possession. They have one third-down conversion after going 5 for 5 in first quarter.
MIAMI 35-13, 8:23: RedHawks match season high for points in a game when Tyrone Jones goes in from the 1. Drive covered 51 yards in four plays. It's their third scoring drive today of four plays or less at this was the shortest. Dyset now 17 of 22 for 297.
MIAMI 41-13, 4:22: Dysert ties school record with fifth TD pass (Ben Roethlisberger did it twice, among others). Do we really still have more than a quarter to play? Really? Seriously??? (RedHawks missed extra point btw).
FOURTH QUARTER
UB just stopped on four shots from inside the Miami 1 after Isaac Baugh nearly returned a fumble for a touchdown.
No scoring.
