UB sophomore receiver Alex Neutz will undergo surgery for a wrist fracture and is done for the remainder of 2011. Neutz suffered the injury in the second quarter of last Saturday's 41-13 loss at Miami, tried to play through it, but departed when a Chazz Anderson pass sailed through his hands late in the quarter. It's UB's second major injury at the position. Senior Terrell Jackson suffered a neck injury at Temple earlier in the season and is unlikely to return.
Neutz, from Grand Island, averaged a team-high 14.9 yards on his 43 receptions. He also was going to fill a need at punt returner, a hole first created by the Jackson injury. With Neutz out, UB's starters are receiver will be Marcus Rivers and Devon Hughes at wideout with either Ed Young or Fred Lee in the slot.
The Bulls are off this weekend and play at Eastern Michigan a week from Saturday.
