Princeton 57, UB 53, Final: Will Barrett fired in the winner on a three-pointer with 8.8 seconds left.
Princeton 54, UB 53, 23.3 seconds left: McCrea came up with a block followed by a free throw with 42.2 seconds left before a Tigers timeout.
Princeton 54, UB 52, 1:56: Watson nails a huge three pointer from the top of the key to pull the Bulls within two. McCrea now has four fouls.
Princeton 51, UB 46,3:49: McCrea has a game high 19 points and is carrying the Bulls offense while Princeton, with three players in double figures, is much more balanced.
Princeton 47, UB 40, 6:23: Clay Wilson hit an NBA three with the shot clock winding down to give the Tigers a seven-point advantage.
Princeton 44, UB 37, 8:42: The Tigers seem to have a nice pace going by dumping the ball inside. They've also started hitting threes (3 of 7 in the second half).
Princeton 37, UB 35, 11:24: MCrea is coming alive and has 11 points in the half but Princeton's offensive rebounding (12) is becoming a mjaor problem for the Bulls.
UB 27, Princeton 24, 15:41, second half: The Bulls are going to miss Mitchell Watt in terms of his complimentary role to Javon McCrea. Teams couldn't double McCrea down low because Watt could step out and hit shots from the high post. McCrea, who was in foul trouble most of the first half, scored his first field goal a minute into the second half. Defensively the Bulls lack a shot blocker in the middle like Watt who allowed the perimeter players to gamble more.
Princeton 22, UB 21, halftime: Watson leads the Bulls with seven points while Hummer paces Princeton with six. The Tigers aren't shooting well (9 of 30) but maintain a lead because they are outworking the Bulls on the offensive glass (8-3).
Princeton 19, UB 15, 3:36: Both teams are a combined 1 of 14 from three-point range. Sophomore Xavier Ford is playing with more confidence than he did a year ago.
Princeton 17, UB 9, 7:07: Princeton is pounding the ball inside after finding little luck from downtown.
Princeton 7, UB 4, 10:41: A jumper by Tony Watson and a layup by Jarod Oldham seemed to wake UB up. Cameron Downing has lost at least 25 pounds. Princeton's Ian Hummer is the nephew of former Buffalo Brave John Hummer, a first-round pick in 1970. Niagara's Calvin Murphy was selected three picks later followed by UTEP's Tiny Archibald.
Princeton 4, UB 0, 14:37 first half: Boy this is ugly. UB's first seven offensive possessions ended with a block, turnnover, missed trey, turnover, airball, another airball and a missed runner. Gotta love season openers.
Pregame: This is the season opener for both teams. UB is 36-9 at home against non-league opponents since 2004-05.
