Live blog: Bona at Buffalo

St. Bonaventure has won 16 straight games against Big 4 opponents. The last team to beat them? The University at Buffalo. The Bulls are looking to end the streak tonight when they host the Bonnies in Alumni Arena.

Bona is on Game No. 7 of an eight-game road swing. The Bonnies are 4-5 overall and will be without CeCe Dixon tonight. She is sitting out for team reasons. Freshman Emily Michael will start in her place.

The Bulls have spent most of the early seasonon the road as well. It's just the third home game for the Bulls (1-7) who are being led by freshmen Rachael Gregory (11.5 ppg) and Mackenzie Loesing (8.4 ppg).

Check back for updates throughout the game.

Final: Bona 64, Buffalo 55.

Second half:

3:48 left: Bonnies lead, 51-47. Ashley Zahn hit back-to-back three pointers then knocked down a pair of free throws for Bona. This is getting pretty serious.

7:58 left: Buffalo leads, 39-35. The Bulls went on a 9-0 run to take control of the game. Rachael Gregory has been impressive with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The Bonnies, meanwhile, have gone cold and the Bulls are outworking them on loose balls.

11:38 left: Bonnies lead, 35-32. Rachael Gregory will be going to the line after the time out to try and complete the three-point play. It's become a jump-ball fest with Bona coach Jim Crowley yelling "win the ball" at every opportunity.

15:00 left: Bonnies lead, 31-8. Bonagrew its lead to seven points, 31-24, on a jumper by Katie Healy but the Bulls scored four straight points, including a fastbreak layup off a Bona turnover. The Bulls now have 16 points off 15 Bona turnovers.

17:36 left: Bonnies lead, 29-24. After Rachael Gregory hit two free throws to open the half, the Bonnies went on an 8-0 run to take the lead, Ortego had three points in the run, Emily Michael had a three-pointer and Jordan McGee a beautiful reverse layup on a feed by Ortega.

Buffalo leads, 22-21. Bona held the Bulls without a field goal for 11 minutes while making a 6-0 run to get back into the game. Katie Healy sank a free throw to give the Bonnies its only lead of the game, 21-20.

The Bulls are shooting just 28.6 percent (8 for 28) with eight points and five rebounds from Rachael Gregory.

The freshmen are leading the Bonnies combining for 17 points, led by Nyla Rueter's six points.

First half

3:46 left: Buffalo leads, 20-17. The Bonnies are on a 6-0 run including four points from Doris Ortega. The Bulls have gone cold missing their last seven shots with a turnover thrown in for good measure. The Bulls are getting good looks, but not shooting the ball well.

7:23 left: Buffalo leads, 20-11. The Bulls have missed opportunities to make this a double-digit lead while the Bonnies have failed to get good, solid shots to fall.

11:57 left: Buffalo leads, 14-9. Turnovers are killing the Bonnies. The Bulls, on the other hand, are taking advantage of a hesitant, and tired-looking, Bona defense. The Bulls have eight points off Bona's six turnovers.

15:08 left: Buffalo leads, 11-7. Only freshmen have scored for the Bonnies who already have three turnovers. The Bulls are shooting 62.5 percent (5 of 8) with balanced scoring to jump out to the early lead.

17:01 left: Buffalo leads, 9-3. Bona calls timeout. The Bonnies have two turnovers and the Bulls are moving the ball inside to open up their offense and jump out to the early lead.
