Eastern Michigan-Buffalo game wrap

Buffalo 76, Eastern Michigan 66

How UB won: The Eagles intention was to move Javon McCrea out of the low post and make him shoot jump shots. Once Eagles coach Rob Murphy yelled at Mo Hughley for fouling McCrea from 15 feet out. “Calm down,” Murphy said. “He can’t shoot!” Others were forced to step up and Jarryn Skeete, Will Regan and Jarod Oldham helped fill the void.

Turning Point: UB trailed 55-53 when Skeete was fouled while shooting a 3-pointer. He made all three shots which ignited a 13-3 run, giving the Bulls complete control.

Player of the Game: Skeete scored 19 points off the bench in 27 minutes of play.

What It Means: UB improved to 8-4 overall and is 2-0 in the MAC since the 2009-10. The Bulls are also a perfect 6-0 at home this season.

Stat Check: It wasn’t as if McCrea was totally invisible: 10 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.

Stat Check II: Bulls had 22 assists and just eight turnovers.

In the House: 2,616 at Alumni Arena.

Next Up: The Bulls play at Toledo on Wednesday. The Rockets won 12 straight before losing at Kansas and Western Michigan. They host Central Michigan on Saturday.
